Delsea CTE Program of Study

Program Overview

Program Goal

In an honors computer programming classes, students typically focus on mastering the fundamentals of programming languages, understanding algorithms, and developing problem-solving skills. They work on projects that require them to apply these concepts to create functional programs and games in which they gain a deeper understanding of coding principles. As students progress to the Advanced Placement (AP) computer science course, the goals shift towards advanced topics such as data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. Students in AP classes are challenged to analyze complex problems, design efficient solutions, and write code that is not only functional but also optimized for performance. The transition from honors to AP computer programming represents a journey towards becoming proficient in advanced coding concepts and preparing for college-level computer science courses.
