Program Overview
Program Goal
Retail Store Management is designed to appeal to students whose career/college goals include retail management, retail buying, security, sales, merchandising, marketing or promotion. Students will have the opportunity to combine classroom learning with a structured learning experience through working the school store. One “classroom” group session and one store staff (lab) session is required each day. Students are eligible for this course by completing one of the following prerequisites: College Accounting, The Business of Sports Marketing, or Marketing Applications. In addition, students will develop leadership skills, good citizenship, social intelligence, and vocational understanding through participation in DECA activities and competitions, including a wide range of volunteer community service activities, spearheaded by the marketing classes.
What is DECA? Visit: deca.org DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is an international association of marketing students that provides members and advisors with development activities in all fields related to business and marketing. DECA’s mission is to “Prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.”
