Program Overview

Program Goal

Computer Aided Design (CAD) introduces students to the world of engineering and architectural drawings. Students will learn how to visualize and create orthographic, isometric, auxiliary, section and development drawings of mechanical objects using Autodesk software. Students will also learner to organize drawings through file management and layering these drawings with dimensions and annotations. As students advance to intermediate and advanced classes, they will create 3D models, assemblies, formal 3-view drawings with dimensions, plus presentations. Each week, students will be introduced to a new set of drawing skills. Students will use Autodesk software, a respected industry-level CAD software platform.

iSTEM

I-STEM provides students with an introduction to the field of Engineering and highlights the interrelationships between STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Twenty-first Century Knowledge & Career Ready Practices are developed while students attempt to solve real-world problems.

CAD

Individuals choosing to enroll in the Computer Aided Design (CAD) course will learn the beginner’s and intermediate level drafting skills, file management, technical vocabulary, computer literacy, analytical thinking and problem solving skills.

Programming

The four programming courses offered at Delsea are designed to prepare students for careers in the constantly changing STEAM fields at the high school and college levels. The students will first be introduced to the general ideas of coding, design and development of computer programs.

Horticulture

The Delsea Regional High School Horticulture Program is a four Step program that includes Landscape design, Ornamental Horticulture, Floral Design and Greenhouse Plant production.

Marketing

Students develop leadership skills, good citizenship, social intelligence, and vocational understanding through participation in DECA. Intro to Business credit is earned with Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC), upon completion of the 3-year course, as well as national certification as a Marketing Specialist upon passing the ASK Institute exit test.

Retail Store Management

Retail Sales and Distribution is a two-period per day, 10 credit course, designed to appeal to students whose career/college goals include retail store management, retail buying, security, sales, merchandising, or promotion. Students combine classroom learning with working the school store.

Digital Arts

Students enrolling in Digital Arts will be able to create a broad variety digital images for uses in digital medias such as: digital video, video game, web pages and websites, including social media, databases and electronic books. Students will begin by gaining a strong understanding of the elements of art and explore a variety of ways they should be composed within a work of art or design.

Accounting

Accounting 1, Accounting 2 and College Accounting are a program of study designed to prepare a student pursuing any business career. In Accounting 1 and 2, students will learn how to journalize, post and prepare financial statements for a business organized as a sole proprietorship. Real world applications will be explored through the use of an automated accounting system.

Music Technology

Students learn the “ins and outs” of live audio production, including microphone set up and placement, for live performance and studio recording. Experience gained in the live audio unit serves as a guide for the mixing and mastering process students learn through the industry standard programs of Logic Pro 10, Pro Tools 11, and Ableton.

TV/Broadcasting

Students looking to enter The Delsea Zone (Radio &Television Broadcasting Class) will learn to script, record and edit a variety of different types of videos over the course of three years.

Students will educated each student in many areas of construction, such as . It is program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to residential and commercial building construction and remodeling.

Electrical Technology 1

Freshman and Sophomores will complete a semester of instruction in the fundamentals of electrical trades. During the course, students will be introduced to safety operations and procedures, basic electrical theory, hand tools, raceways and conductors, devices and fixtures, enclosures, wiring methods, the National Electrical code, and hands-on practical projects.

Plumbing Technology 1

The plumbing I course is the beginning of three full years of study and practical shop work in the plumbing trade. This course will emphasize the safe use of power and hand tools. It will introduce the basic knowledge and use measurement, steel pipe threading and installation (pipe fitting). The students will demonstrate knowledge of basic soldering, the correct use of copper, steel and basic Polyvinyl Chloride and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (PVC/ABS) waste, and vent fitting identification. The students will also learn the basic installation of hot water heaters. In addition, through web-based projects the students will enhance their understanding of basic computer skills.

Law Enforcement

Introduction to Law Enforcement is designed to provide students with insight into the Law Enforcement field. The course will provide an opportunity for students to explore law, disputes, the court system, criminal law, and crime in America. Ultimately, the goal is for students to utilize skills and concepts learned in class to apply in real-world scenarios. The students will work on soft skills that will assist in the development of their personal growth, attitude, and skills necessary when seeking any type of employment but they will leave with an understanding of the responsibilities of a police officer.

Sports Marketing

This course is offered to students in grades 11-12. This tier is third in a series of courses, specifying the skills and knowledge that are identified to help students develop an extensive understanding of the marketing concepts and theories that apply to sports, entertainment, and business. Areas covered in this course include: marketing strategies for sports organizations, endorsements of professional and amateur athletics, event marketing and public relations, finance and budgeting, as well as ethics and diversity in sports marketing. Field experiences and partnerships with local sports teams are explored in this course. Students are offered the opportunity to participate in DECA activities.
